The Sacred Origin of Traditional Tibetan Incense

ust 20 kilometers from the heart of Lhasa stands Sangpu Monastery, once known as the “Nalanda of Tibet.”
Great masters such as Je Tsongkhapa and Milarepa studied and practiced here, making it one of the most important centers of Tibetan learning and spiritual heritage.

Sangpu Monastery preserves a vast collection of ancient scriptures and traditional medical formulas.
Sangpu Tibetan Incense is crafted in strict accordance with the Four Tantras of Tibetan Medicine and the monastery’s auspicious traditional recipes passed down through generations.

Each stick of incense is entirely handmade by local villagers, under the supervision of Sangpu Monastery.
All incense makers come from the surrounding community—many are deaf or mute artisans, and others are elderly craftsmen in their sixties and seventies.

Although life here is not easy, they continue to cherish life, their homeland, and the enduring culture of Sangpu.
Every purchase directly supports local livelihoods and employment, allowing this sacred tradition to continue—one incense stick at a time.
